The "Process"

Printmaking is my labor of love. It's an endeavor that requires planning ahead and working step by step, yet I can still expect an exciting surprise when I pull that first print. I work with both linoleum and woodcuts, using a couple different presses depending on the size of the image. I like to print on mulberry paper, and I build my own frames from up-cycled wood. There's a strong tradition of craftsmanship and style in printmaking, and I'm influenced by the history of prints from all over the world: Japanese, French, German, Mexican, Dutch and more.
The California coast and the aesthetics of Ocean Culture inform my work. Colors and imagery blend with nature and that is what inspires me, and stokes my creativity.
